The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Ophthalmology, is seeking a dedicated Researcher Specialist to join their team.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher Specialist, you will be recognized as an expert in your field, leading specialized research initiatives with a high level of autonomy. This professional-level position entails developing innovative research methodologies, securing external funding, and influencing the strategic direction of research programs. Your role will also involve extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, disseminating research findings, and driving technological advancements. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Imaging-informed computational modeling of the eye, high-resolution ophthalmic imaging using mathematical and computer-based simulations.
Creating detailed, personalized digital models of the eye that can be used to understand its mechanics, function, and how diseases progress.
Conducting experiments, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
Managing lab supplies and equipment, maintaining organized records.
Contributing to research design and proposals, preparing publications and grants.
Ensuring compliance with safety protocols
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range $ 60,835- $65,000
Qualifications
Qualifications
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Background in mechanical engineering and biology preferred
