STUDENT EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR

General Responsibilities:

To be responsible for creating meaningful employment opportunities and experiences for UAB students. To provide support and oversight for all student employment needs for the facility. To assist the department with a wide variety of supervisory duties in the areas of student employee onboarding, training, scheduling, and development. To be responsible for personnel as assigned, including a team of 50 student staff members. To oversee the use of multiple communication platforms and assist in maintaining related inventories.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the planning and implementation for staff recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, evaluation, and on-going development of 50+ student employees in the areas of Guest Services, Game Room, and Facility Services to ensure consistent employment experiences are had.

  2. Plans and coordinates the comprehensive, multi-day training for all student employees taking place each Fall and the monthly all-staff professional development meetings alongside the Assistant Director of Business Operations and Student Employment.

  3. Assists in the management of inventories for event equipment and student employee uniform pieces. Orders to replenish as needed. Stays abreast of any facility cleaning, organization, and inventory projects and delegates them to the student employee team as time allows.

  4. Oversees the use of multiple student employee platforms including scheduling and communication platforms such as WhentoWork, 7PointOps, and Teams.

  5. Works alongside the Office Support Specialist to process all student employee hiring documentation and processes. Assists in the development of student employment expectations and policies in the form of a handbook that is updated annually.

  6. Interacts with and provides exceptional customer service to Hill Student Center guests. Actively searches for ways to better the Hill Student Center experience for patrons. Supports the execution of more than 6,000 events on campus annually, including indoor and outdoor locations.

  7. Collaborates with others across the Division of Student Affairs and University of Alabama at Birmingham to provide meaningful and developmental experiences for student employees.

  8. Attends tabling events and job fairs to promote the services and opportunities of working at the Hill Student Center. Develops promotional materials to recruit exceptional student employee candidates.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range:

This position is assigned to Wage Grade W.G310 (Job Code S010198) with a full Compensation - approved range of $35,570 – $57,800 annually (midpoint $46,240).

Final offers will be made within this grade range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the department’s budgeted amount for the role. Applicants whose stated salary expectations fall outside the posted grade range may not be considered.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
