The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Microbiology, is seeking a skilled Researcher to join their team.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the wet lab experiments including molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and cryo-EM analysis of the protein samples.
Provides technical support by performing complex research related tasks.
Acts as a subject matter expert on research methods and equipment functions.
Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
Evaluates study results using statistical and multivariate analysis.
Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
May contribute to writing grants.
May be involved in the training of new lab members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range $50,050- $81,330
Qualifications
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Ability to troubleshoot problems and construct solutions.
Knowledge and clinical expertise in laboratory technology.
Experience in a research laboratory.
Degree in biological sciences or related field.
