Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Molecular & Cellular Pathology, is seeking a Researcher Senior to join their team. The candidate will perform independent research, design of experiments, provide intellectual input, perform method development, data analysis, writing of manuscripts, and contribute to grant preparation.

General Responsibilities

As a Researcher Senior, you will have expanded responsibilities, overseeing complex or multiple research projects and providing strategic direction. This professional-level role involves mentoring junior researchers, managing project budgets, and ensuring the integrity and quality of research outcomes. Your expertise will be critical in guiding experimental design, data interpretation, and contributing to high-impact publications. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Conduct scientific research, develop and apply novel techniques, follow literature, solve research problems, independently drive research projects, prepare publications, help with preparation of preliminary data for grant applications.

  2. Oversight of research laboratory, ordering reagents and supplies, re-stocking.

  3. Train and supervise students and other laboratory personnel.

  4. Conducting literature searches for applicable information on recent developments and techniques.

  5. Organization and coordination of sample collection.

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $60,835- $98,855

Qualifications

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • PhD strongly desired in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry.

  • Experience in Molecular Biology and tissue culture techniques is preferred.
