Are you passionate about recruitment, building relationships, and helping others succeed? UAB is looking for a Human Resources Staffing Specialist to join our Talent Acquisition team. This individual will support university-wide hiring by partnering with departments to meet staffing needs and deliver high-quality candidates through a consistent and compliant process.

Under general supervision and in accordance with UAB policies, procedures, and federal/state employment laws, the Staffing Specialist will coordinate full-cycle recruitment, provide expert consultation to hiring departments, and contribute to a positive and efficient hiring experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the employment process through the university’s applicant tracking system.

  • Partner with departments to understand staffing needs and recommend sourcing strategies.

  • Identify, screen, and refer qualified applicants to hiring managers for consideration.

  • Conduct interviews, assess qualifications, and maintain appropriate documentation throughout the process.

  • Track recruitment metrics for reporting and continuous improvement.

  • Provide guidance to departments on recruitment best practices and help resolve staffing challenges.

  • May be responsible for hiring temporary employees, conducting new employee orientation, participating in job fairs, and supervising support personnel.

Pay Range: $47,665 – $50,000

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required.

  • Note: Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement.

  • Certifications: None required.

  • HRIS or applicant tracking system experience

  • Employee onboarding or orientation facilitation

  • Job fair or campus recruiting

  • Consulting with managers on staffing needs

  • Temporary services or agency recruiting experience
