RESEARCHER ASSOCIATE
As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to advancing research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide animal husbandry for rodents (rats/mice)
- Develop and improve techniques in use in the lab
- Make daily observations, including feeding, watering, weighing, and providing environmental enrichment to animals housed in multiple facilities
- Monitor experimental results, detect, and report unusual outcomes
- Receive animals and supplies from vendors, organize proper housing for the animals
- Store supplies according to established standard operating procedures
- Set up animal matings, including ensuring correct mating schemes, documenting and maintaining accurate records on parents and offspring, separating weanlings into new cages
- Update and maintain colony database regularly
- Other duties include rodent restraint, ear tagging, collecting biological samples, and maintaining laboratory and support equipment
- Assist in setting up and performing behavior tests on animals and maintain proper documentation of experimental records
- Instruct other lab personnel in techniques
- Perform basic statistical analyses and use graphing software
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Hourly Wage: $19.80-$32.15
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in animal handling, preferably with mice or rats
- Some knowledge of behavior tests, Blood, fecal, and tissue collection
- Experience with physiological and molecular techniques
- Experience with animal dissections
