RESEARCHER ASSISTANT

As a Research Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including sample processing, basic data analysis, and maintaining accurate records. Your support will be crucial in helping senior team members execute complex protocols and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab. This position will involve research animal contact and may involve human specimens.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Order supplies for the laboratory
- Maintain mouse colony and performs genotyping
- Work with graduate students to assist with completion of in vitro and in vivo experiments for publication
- Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals. Runs cell culture, flow cytometry and isolation of primary cells
- Collects, enters, and summarizes data
- Performs basic statistical data analysis
- Monitors results; detects and reports unusual outcomes
- Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment and supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- Preferences On the job training is available, but candidates with prior molecular biology experience are preferred
- This includes experience with cell culture and techniques such as purification of nucleic acids, quantitative real-time PCR, and immunoblotting, even if exposure is only through laboratory coursework
- Prior experience with mouse colony management is preferred
- Previous experience in a basic science lab is preferred

Salary Range: $16.50-$26.80
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree in a related field
- OR High School diploma
- or GED
- and two (2) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
