PROGRAM DIRECTOR II

The UAB Division of Infectious Diseases seeks a Program Director II to to support a growing research portfolio and supervise administrative needs within the Research and Informatics Service Center (RISC). The PDII should be knowledgeable about the conduct of research, experienced in project management including pre- and post-award as well as capable of independent problem solving. RISC has researchers that focus on outcomes research with a broad portfolio of funding including industry, federal and foundation grants. In addition, grants support individual research portfolios as well as research centers. This operation includes a major service center as well as a center (COERE). As such, the PDII will need a breadth of experience that supports interactions and management of funds from the aforementioned sponsors as well as internal entities. This position will also require experience in budget preparation, contract negotiation, FBS, and other project related activities. Lastly, this position will provide supervision of staff needed for financial and administrative support, resource management, event planning, contract execution, and reimbursements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Directs operations of a programmatic function.
- Operates with a high degree of independence.
- Responsible for program development, content and administration.
- Establishes program objectives, manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding.
- Prepares various reports for program.

- Pre- and Post-award grants management (federal, foundational and industry)
- Ability to interact with UAB personnel and outside collaborators
- Oracle GA, GL, HR Experience
Salary Range: $60,835 - $98,855
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- And five (5) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
