Position Summary:
As a Researcher Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including sample processing, basic data analysis, and maintaining accurate records. Your support will be crucial in helping senior team members execute complex protocols and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
The Day Lab uses the gene editing platforms, single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing, cell culture models, electrophysiology, and behavioral approaches to understand genetic and transcriptional mechanisms in brain health and disease states. Examples of our published work can be found at our lab website (www.day-lab.org). This position will assist in active research projects using laboratory animal model systems. There will also be opportunities to learn additional molecular and genetic approaches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules and performs behavioral assay experiments using laboratory animal models.
- Maintains laboratory protocols and detailed experimental records
- In collaboration with other lab scientists, collects and summarizes data, performs graphical and statistical analysis on data.
- Assist with preparation of research manuscripts.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $16.50 - $18.75
Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred:
- Ideal candidates will have at least a year of relevant prior laboratory research experience.
- Candidates with animal behavior experiments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and external visitors in a team environment
