Researcher III
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a Researcher III. Dr. Stephen Aller is the recipient of a subaward from the University of Cincinnati on their PO1 project entitled 'Multi-disciplinary Approaches to HDL Structure, Assembly, and Functional Heterogeneity,' a 5-year project which will bring in over $300K total (Direct and Indirect) each year. We are seeking an experienced Researcher III to work on the specific aim/s of this project. This is Year 2 of the subaward, which was just released for funding.
General Responsibilities
As directed:
- To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals
- To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data
- To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications
- To develop and improve techniques for the lab
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals
- Develops and improves techniques for the lab
- Contributes to planning/design of studies
- Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data
- Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications
- May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management
- Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Hourly Salary Range $17.10 - $28.31
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field
OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Experience in the purification and structural biology of full-length ABC transporters, including ABCA1.
