Position Summary:
The Department of Genetics is looking for a Financial Officer II to join a fast-moving department. This role will support the various financial needs of multiple Research Investigators as well administrative financial needs like reconciliations, reimbursements and effort/ timekeeper.
Manages and has significant authority for financial operations of larger, more complex units. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: develops and administers budgets and financial systems, projects revenue, space and facility planning, grants management, regulatory compliance. Monitors adherence to and follows established guidelines, policies and procedures for assigned unit. Ensures all financial operations are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Establishes and maintains accurate financial management databases. Makes decisions regarding the reporting and use of financial resources.
Provides financial guidance to assigned staff and appropriate University personnel and coordinates integration with University accounting system. May oversee billing and collections operations, including third party reimbursement and direct patient billing for some units. May manage revenue producing activity. May manage the entire or parts of the accounting function for assigned unit. Typically supervises office support and/or professional staff which could include hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline and, if necessary, discharge. Handles other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with Invoicing
- Assist with managing a recharge account
- Reconcile GA and GL accounts for faculty
- Manage other support pages for faculty
- Serve as backup proxy for faculty questions
- Manage Kronos for biweekly employees
- Manage effort for all grant paid employees
- Assist with budget preparations
- Assist with GL entries, cost transfers and rebudgeting requests
- Process subcontract payments
- Assist with RPPR submissions
- Assist with salary reclasses Assist with funding source changes
- Assist with vendor contracts.
Salary Range: $55,180 - $89,670
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
