Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Radiology Chair Office, is seeking a Scientist I.

General Responsibilities

  • To employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in a particular field of specialization.
  • To plan, coordinate and conduct research.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Performs PET drug Quality Control testing involving sterility, gas chromatography, HPLC, TLC, pH, and other various related test in accordance with FDA requirements.
  2. Maintains cGMP compliance for cyclotron facility operations.
  3. Follows site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for facility.
  4. Understands and contributes to radiation safety protocol and procedures.
  5. Supports daily production of PET isotopes and the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals Provides maintenance and repair of PET Manufacturing production and analytical equipment in accordance with manufacture specifications and cGMP's.
  6. Performs various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed.
  7. Troubleshoots production issues Inventory, order, receive, and stock production materials. Obtains DOT certification for shipping of radioactive materials.
  8. Works safely with radioactive materials.
  9. Lifts up to 50 Ibs.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range $63,125.00 - $80,000.00

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR M.D. and Master's degree.
  • OR Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
