EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR-UROLOGY
The Department of Urology at UAB is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Administrator to direct, plan, organize, and control a diverse range of functions, including financial affairs, operations, research, risk management, personnel, faculty recruitment and retention, compliance, and facilities management. This is a leadership role in a clinical department, offering the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives and operations.
The ideal candidate will serve as the primary departmental representative to external agencies, collaborating with governmental entities, foundations, and industry partners to manage both intramural and extramural programs. This role requires a deep understanding of research activities, including grants administration, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
In addition, the Executive Administrator will manage and lead the department's personnel processes, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining subordinate staff.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Directs and oversees financial operations, research activities, personnel management, risk management, and physical facilities
- Manages relationships with outside agencies, government entities, and industry to support clinical and research objectives
- Coordinates with the university’s research and grants administration office, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies
- Leads faculty recruitment and retention efforts and supports strategic growth initiatives
- Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff as needed to meet departmental goals
- Performs other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $104-185-$234,420 (Commensurate with experience)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Ten (10) years of related experience in financial management, operations, or administration
- Experience in a healthcare or academic setting is preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage large teams and represent the department at the highest levels
