Compensation:
Pay Range: $104,045.00 - $169,075.00 / year

Job Description:
The Opioid Stewardship Pharmacist will be part of a multidisciplinary team. Through the work of the committee, the pharmacist will assist in developing and implementing initiatives that ensure safe and appropriate use of medications for pain management.

Key efforts for the Opioid Stewardship Pharmacist include:

· Serve as a key member of UAB Medicine’s Opioid Stewardship Program, a health-system committee focused on the oversight of all initiatives, policies, procedures, prescribing, education, and quality metric tracking related to opioids

· Active participation in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives set forth by the Opioid Stewardship Committee

· Work directly with providers and other healthcare professionals to provide pain regimen optimization to support patient-centered care while incorporating risk mitigation strategies

Other responsibilities include:

· Align health system opioid stewardship goals with regulatory bodies, including The Joint Commission

· Assess current opioid prescribing patterns and impact of existing policies and guidelines around analgesic therapy

· Develop and implement interventions that will reduce opioid related adverse drug events

· Collaborate with members of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee to address formulary discussions, protocols, order set reviews, and policies that directly affect pain management and opioids

· Continually evaluate order sets for acute pain management and provide education on changes.

· Participate in utilization reviews to develop and analyze pain quality metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and work with stakeholders to develop process improvement recommendations and implementation plans

· Participate in patient care activities and clinical staffing within the decentral pharmacist team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.
