GENERAL SUMMARY

The Office of Patient Experience and Engagement (OPXE) supports the UAB Health System strategy to become a leader in patient care and leave a lasting impact on our patients, families, and community. The Director of Operations oversees day-to-day PXE functions to include strategic planning, financial reporting, contract servicing, and project management. As a member of the Patient Experience and Engagement leadership team, the Director of Operations serves as a content expert on the topic of patient experience, implements system-wide patient experience strategy, and workstreams projects designed to position UAB Health System as a national leader on the topic of Patient Experience and Engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as a patient experience leader and content experience for UAB Health System and its affiliates.

2. Provides operations oversight for the Office of Patient Experience and Engagement (OPXE).

3. Establishes OPXE planning cycle, operations structure, and meeting cadence to achieve outcomes.

4. Collaborates across UAB Health System to continually improve the patient experience and engagement.

5. Consults on the establishment of targets and goals for patient experience and engagement.

6. Monitors data, outcomes, and projects to ensure effectiveness and impact.

7. Monitors external environment for regulatory and industry changes that impact the patient experience.

8. Identifies external best practices to enhance patient experience and engagement operations internally.

9. Represents the OPXE on committees, councils, task forces, and improvement teams.

10. Present data and information to all levels of the organization.

11. Represents UAB Health System externally on the topics of patient experience and engagement.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree Business, Health Care Administration, or related field and seven (7) years health care leadership experience required. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Experience working with patient experience and engagement improvement efforts required. Experience working with and a strong understanding of patient experience and engagement data, including VBP and CAHPS, NPS, Real-Time Listening required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required. Must possess effective communication, facilitation, and group presentation skills. Must be able to navigate a large and complex organization. Experience with strategic planning and leadership accountability, as well as familiarity with quality improvement and culture change strategies preferred.
