To identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to improve patient care and reduce preventable harm across the organization, including all inpatient and ambulatory areas, through the review of patient safety events. To investigate and analyze patient safety events, in a timely manner. To engage in professional communication with front line staff, medical staff, nursing departments, service line directors/managers, and executive leadership regarding patient safety events. To facilitate root cause analysis and process improvement activities in accordance with hospital policy. To serve as a subject matter expert to UAB Medicine staff and committees with regard to quality improvement tools and methodologies used to aid UAB Medicine s compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
