The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Center for Clinical & Translational Science, is seeking a Researcher II.

General Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision:

• To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
• To collect, enter and summarize data.
• To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assists PI in the execution of the laboratory Quality Management Plan and standard operating procedures.
2. Documents receipt of human research specimens and process/store specimens according to standard operating procedures.
3. Documents and executes requests for specimens stored in the biorepository.
4. Maintenance of the specimen inventory database, storage and retrieval of specimens from the freezers and running inventory reports from the database.
5. Maintains compliance with quality management plans as required by laboratory certification.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Salary Range $15.50 - $23.51

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
• OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

• Experience with handling/processing human blood and experience with extraction of genomic DNA.
• Familiarity with laboratory regulatory and certification requirements.
• Familiarity with the process of clinical lab certification.
• WHO/ISO level Quality management plans and Corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
