Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Genetics Research Division, is seeking a Researcher V. The candidate will work in the field of pancreatic beta cell biology, obesity and insulin resistance in diabetes research. The candidate will design and conduct experiments independently and together with co-workers, analyze and interpret the data, and present and publish the findings in journals and conferences.
General Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the overall operation of the lab.
- To oversee projects within the lab.
- To contribute to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
- To supervise a research team, direct and teach lab practices.
- To manage lab equipment and supplies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs, performs, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data.
- Prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs.
- Supervises junior research staff, direct and teach lab practices and to manage lab equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range $49,004.80 - $95,500.00
Qualifications
- Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience
- OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Wet lab experience.
- Data collection.
