Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform alcohol and drug screening for court-ordered clients at Family Court UAB drug screening lab.
- May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
- Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages 12 through geriatric.
- Performs clerical tasks as requested including, but not limited to scheduling, maintaining patient health data, communication with internal programs, and managing needed supplies.
- Collection of payment for lab services as required.
- Maintaining court orders and DHR billing forms as needed for monthly billing.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- Comfortable with data entry into a software program.
- Comfortable dealing with bodily fluids as required for drug testing.
- Ability to adhere to accepted protocols/procedures.
- Ability to work in a communal office setting with other lab staff.
- Able to communicate effectively and efficiently, reliable, and flexible.
- Urinalysis Collections and Disposal according to UAB protocol.
- MVR NEEDED
Salary Range: $15.00-$23.55
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Currently certified as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health career Association (NHA) required.
- If certified by another accrediting agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
