The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Researcher II. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining various transgenic mouse lines, performing intricate cardiac surgeries, isolating cardiomyocytes, and contributing to the scientific community through innovative research and publications. This role requires a meticulous approach, strong organizational skills, and a deep passion for advancing cardiac health research.
General Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision:
- To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
- To collect, enter and summarize data.
- To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Takes care of various transgenic mouse line.
- Performs mouse cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury surgery.
- Isolates adult mouse ventricular cardiomyocytes.
- Writes papers on innovative methods of cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Hourly Salary Range $15.50 - $23.51
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Master's Degree in biology
- Must have surgical technique for cardiac open chest ischemia/reperfusion injury.
