Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Researcher IV. This position will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting complex genomic data related to vascular inflammation and endothelial dysfunction, with a particular emphasis on the role of extracellular matrix-derived chemokines.

General Responsibilities

Working with a high degree of independence:

  • To oversee projects within the laboratory
  • To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data.
  • To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies.
  • To help develop long or short-term goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Leverages advanced knowledge of laboratory practices and techniques.
  2. Manages the acquisition and maintenance of inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  3. Monitors research outcomes and identifies and reports results.
  4. Collects and groups data.
  5. Coordinates collaborative projects with other laboratories.
  6. Provides the animal models for all experiments/conduct animal transfer.
  7. Conduct and analyze spatial transcriptomics.
  8. Bioinformatic Data analysis and presentation.
  9. Conducts and analyzes spatial transcriptomics.
  10. RNA sequencing analysis and presentations.
  11. Assistance with In vitro and/or molecular experiments.
  12. Coordination with collaborating research group (Drs. Bell and Gaggar).
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range $47,486.40 - $85,000.00

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a related field
  • OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
  • OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Strong background in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and data science, with an interest in vascular biology.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Familiarity with research ethics guidelines and best practices.
