University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Researcher IV.

General Responsibilities

Working with a high degree of independence:

• To oversee projects within the laboratory
• To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.
• To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data.
• To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies.
• To help develop long or short-term goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs Lab animal colony maintenance, genotyping, PCR.
2. Provides the animal models for all experiments/conduct animal transfer.
3. Collects and groups data, basic analysis.
4. Coordinates collaborative projects with other laboratories.
5. Orders supplies for Lab and organizes the facility.
6. Mentors student assistants and visiting scholars.
7. Analyzes and compiles research data for grant submissions and assist with writing grant submissions.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range $47,486.40 - $85,000.00

• Doctorate in a related field
• OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
• OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
• OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

• Experience with laboratory animals.
• Understanding of ethical guidelines and regulations,
• Data management.
• Understanding of genetics and molecular biology concepts.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
