Position Summary:
Responsible for performing RMRIC administrative tasks and managing a large and complex imaging Core. The role provides input on program plan and objectives with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters. Duties include, but are not limited to, network/public relations, oversee training, plan and develop support for research user base across imaging facilities.
The Program Director I is heavily involved in long range planning and functions as a principal liaison for research and UAB Medicine.
Directs the operations of a small programmatic function. Independently designs, develops and administers program content. Establishes program objectives. Manages program fiscal operations. Supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Following instructions and discussions with Core directors, building research protocols in consultation with Project PIs and users, including modifying and extending procedures for the collection, verification and management of data; facilitates study establishment and guidance by taking on tasks associated with study onboarding and imaging support for RMRIC
- Works with Project PIs and their personnel in data collection for MRI research studies
- Oversees and coordinates regular facility and equipment maintenance (Eg: Ancillary research equipment) and upkeep (Eg: Quality Control).
- Functions as the focal point between RMRIC and vendors, industries, and associated research suppliers.
- Acts independently to maintain structural organization and workflow through managing research and equipment schedules.
- Works with clinical administrators to communicate and increase scanner utilization.
- Maintaining regular correspondence and meetings with users, Core staff, investigators (PIs), and Radiology administration.
- Oversees all MRI training and safety adherence.
- Developing and strategizing for new MRI scanner and facility expansion.
- Work alongside Core directors during all stages of logistical planning and strategizing.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $47,665 - $59,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Physics, or Administration
- Previously worked directly in consumer/user support and correspondence, coordination and facilitation of consumer/user instruction and training.
- Familiar with neurological anatomy and scientific literature
- Familiar with project organization.
- Technical expertise, e.g. enjoying troubleshooting problems with technology, as troubleshooting the ancillary technology (earphones, button presses, joysticks, monitors) will be part of the job.
- Comfort with technical things - if you liked to take things apart and put them back together as a child, this will be a helpful way of thinking!
