Compensation:
Pay Range: $63,875 - $103,800/ year

Duties

To function as a knowledgeable practitioner, and as a consultant, educator, and evaluator to maintain and improve system services, and to mentor clinician users to become better technology consumers. To participate in the selection, implementation, and support of clinical systems; ensure maximum use and efficiency of clinical systems; provide direct, hands-on education and support to staff in the use of technology in a manner which promotes patient safety and confidentiality; consistently strive to improve knowledge and skills in the development of clinical systems and processes; and provide system support to include on-call shifts as needed. To search for and implement systems and system improvements which allow clinicians to provide high quality care in the most efficient manner possible utilizing technology.

Job Specific Duties

· Acts as a consultant and liaison with clinicians and committees regarding information technology. Make recommendations for planning and development of clinical systems that promote efficiency as well as technology adoption. Independently seeks out knowledge and resources required to meet requests.

· Enthusiastically participates on committees. Utilizes good interpersonal and communication skills. Contributes to projects and teams by assisting users in making decisions regarding design, workflow and implementation.

· Educates and supports clinical staff regarding use of information technology in a safe and effective manner.

· Assist with the development and revision of department policies and procedures to address changes brought about by the implementation of technology.

· Develop and maintain relationships with vendors for research and development purposes. Attend vendor training as needed. Attend vendor user groups and conferences, preferably with IT Systems Analyst.

· Work collaboratively within the Information Technology governance structure to develop resolutions to issues in response to user requests or concerns about system functionality. Demonstrates intermediate understanding of system functionality in pursuit of resolution. Effectively communicates department position and clinical system information to groups.

· Build and/or facilitates completion of major change requests. Independently seeks out knowledge and resources required to meet requests. Escalates issues appropriately. Leads work teams to drive request and project completion. Delegates tasks well and empowers others.

· Assume on-call duties as needed to provide user support per the established framework. Assist in the establishment of a collaborative user support framework which addresses hardware, software, and process issues at all times that systems are operational (24/7).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed in the area of clinical specialty by the State of Alabama.

Preferred Skills

Four (4) years of experience in direct patient care (at least 1 with UAB)

· Demonstrated organizational, analytical, writing and interpersonal skills

· Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage staff

· Demonstrated ability to set and manage multiple priorities and to lead others in team projects

· Demonstrated ability to manage and/or resolve issues affecting multiple departments
