ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR

University of Alabama at Birmingham

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise 10-15 staff, including timesheets, payroll, training, disciplinary action, hiring and onboarding. Manage an administrative pool of tasks received throughout the institution, which are to be delegated to appropriate staff, logged, and reconciled daily.
  • Manage various projects throughout the department.
  • Report on the productivity of the administrative team and review the quality of work consistently.
  • Coach and remediate staff as necessary.
  • Maintain an open-door policy for all UAB stakeholders and promptly address concerns of members of the faculty.
  • Ensure all of the department's outstanding invoices are paid in a timely-manner.
  • Order departmental supplies as needed or requested by faculty or administration.
  • Will assist in creating and revising departmental policies and procedures and participate in strategic planning.
  • Assist in recruiting, credentialing, re-credentialing, onboarding, and retention of orthopedic surgeons and researchers.
  • Ensure the department's global communication infrastructure is updated regularly.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

  • Candidate must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional conduct and knowledge of basic human resources policies and procedures.
  • Proficient typing skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability and willingness to hold employees accountable while promoting a safe and positive workplace culture.
  • Flexibility and willingness to serve in multiple proximities to accomplish the daily mission.
  • Strong teamwork and ability to work on cross-functional teams.

Salary Range: $45,395 - $73,770

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • And one (1) year of related experience required.
  • OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Minimum hiring rate must meet the most current FLSA guidelines for salary level and basis to remain exempt.
