FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY: The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an APPLICATIONS ENGINEER II-ENT to provide support of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. To enhance and maintain the system by analyzing, designing, estimating, developing, documenting, testing and implementing required changes. To act as a direct liaison with user, technical support, training and operations personnel. To provide technical and administrative support to the department. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions leveraging Azure services. Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant technologies. Implement ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into Azure data storage solutions and Delta Lakes. Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Utilize Azure Analytics to build and maintain solutions for analytical reporting and business intelligence. Implement data governance, security, and compliance measures in accordance with industry standards and best practices. Work closely with DevOps teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and management of data solutions in Azure. Stay updated on emerging trends and advancements in Azure technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance data engineering capabilities.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
