Compliance Advisor - (UAB000XH)

Description

Compensation: $73,945 - $120,165

General Responsibilities

At the direction of the UAB Health System Office of Compliance Services and the Alabama Rural Health Collaborative (ARHC), to serve as an advisor for member organizations of the ARHC on development and implementation of required compliance program elements. To help identify, assess, and mitigate areas of compliance/regulatory vulnerability and risk. To provide insight, guidance and facilitate initiatives to ensure effective compliance programs within the member organizations. These efforts will be in alignment with UAB Health System’s strategy to remain a leader in healthcare compliance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1.

Serves as the primary compliance liaison between the UAB Health System and the dedicated compliance person at each respective ARHC member institution.

2.

Ensures appropriate and required compliance program materials (code of conduct; written compliance program; policies & procedures) are developed and up-to-date.

3.

Analyzes and interprets data to identify compliance risk areas, trends, successes, and opportunities for improvement.

4.

Coordinates the auditing and monitoring of compliance data and operational processes, including running/creating reports and interpreting scores.

5.

Facilitates efforts for cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams in order to improve compliance.

6.

Provides leadership updates on compliance performance as needed within area(s) of focus.

7.

Serves as a content expert and resource to local hospital leadership. Participates on compliance committees and task forces as needed.

8.

Promotes and supports open lines of communication.

9.

Contributes to the development, implementation, and execution of compliance program improvement and education/training efforts.

10.

Identifies and scales industry-wide compliance best practices, tools, and tactics across the system.

11.

Assists in tracking projects, action items, and strategic priorities across the system.

12.

Supports compliance program and process improvement through collaboration with organizational leaders.

13.

Seeks understanding of needs across the system in order to develop new solutions, strategies, and needed resources.

14.

Travels to member organizations of ARHC as needed.

15.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years related health care experience required. Clinical experience preferred. Master's degree in a related field preferred. Experience working with and a strong understanding of healthcare compliance and third party rules and regulations, as well as federal and state laws regarding healthcare issues is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may substitute.

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) within eighteen (18) months hire date required.
