Program Director II

The University of Alabama at Birmingham

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Director II to manage the new Behavioral and Social Sciences Program. The purpose of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Program is to accelerate scientific discovery, improve clinical and community resources and outcomes, and foster trainee learning opportunities related to behavioral interventions for chronic diseases, including those conditions disproportionately impacting our region. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic leader with a proven track record of creating and maintaining strong relationships using effective interpersonal and communication skills. They must be able to work independently and use their initiative to achieve the goals they have set. We are looking for a proactive employee who collaborates well with others on projects and feels comfortable working with different personalities, all with the end goal of creating the best outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • May conduct special projects relating to an office's administrative operations at the direction of the Administrative Supervisor
  • Directs the administrative and fiscal affairs of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Program
  • Manage major collaborations by partnering with faculty and other staff entities on project writing development, personnel management, facilities/space planning, fiscal aspects of the program
  • Monitors and oversees daily operations of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Program
  • Responsible for strategic planning, analysis/forecasting/budgeting, oversight, legal documentation, formal agreements, project administration and management
  • Directs staff and collaborates with department staff as needed to ensure completion of major projects and tasks
  • Directs the assembly of new and renewal grant applications, including supplements including grant writing, grant proposals, and grant administration (in conjunction with departmental administrators)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $60,835.00-$98,855.00

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • And five (5) years of related experience required
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
