Summary:

The Senior Analyst is primarily responsible for preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts. Additionally, this role includes delivering financial reports and analysis to managing directors and department leaders responsible for their revenue and cost projections.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborates with the CFO, FRP&A Manager, and various department managers to assemble the annual budget. This involves coordination with areas of responsibility, gathering and interpreting information incorporated into the budget, and providing financial data to management and department leaders as needed.
  • Works closely with the CFO and various departments to create periodic forecasts using actual financial data and the annual budget.
  • Maintains formulas and budget/forecast versions within the budget application.
  • Creates and maintains financial reports for external and internal use.
  • Provides and maintains monthly reports to departments for review of financial results and forecasting in their areas of responsibility.
  • Performs variance analysis against budgets, forecasts and prior financial performance.
  • Utilize various resources to extract data for accounting and budget software such as Aderant inquires, budget tools, SQL, financial reports and outside consultants.
  • Provides management KPI reports.
  • Assists with the documentation of annual budget/forecast process and training for department budget users.
  • Maintains a training program on how to update budget and forecast data within the budget program.
  • Creates and enters journal entries as needed.
  • Manages new assignments and projects assigned by management such as software upgrades, account reconciliations, process improvements and documentation of procedures.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts preferably for a law firm.
  • Experience with calculation of key performance indicators and financial analysis preferably for a law firm.
  • Proficient in Excel including pivot tables, vlookups and other advanced functions.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Document Management System.
  • Experience with Elite or Aderant software applications.
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred.
